Diplomats will look for ways to address the challenges left after the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015 and step up efforts to prevent global temperatures from rising by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial period.

Scientists warn that the chances of achieving the goal set at the talks in Paris six years ago are rapidly declining.

Environmentalists also protested dissatisfaction with the slow pace of climate change during meetings in Glasgow, known as COP21.

More than 100 world leaders are expected to attend COP21 on November 1 and 2, including US President Joe Biden, Acting

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Other world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Jair Balsanaru, may address the forum via video link.

More than 25,000 participants have been accredited for the event, which will end on November 13.
