: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Investment and Public Capital has asked the Dar es Salaam Water and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA) to increase its strength and reduce water loss from the current 37 percent to the internationally recommended level of 20 percent. to improve services for all citizens.

Speaking on behalf of the committee while reviewing the progress of the new DAWASA building project expected to be completed in June, 2024 and costing Shs 48.9 billion, the Chairman of the Committee Deus Sangu said that the committee has witnessed the successful implementation of the project and is satisfied with the efficiency, quality of the building.

Apart from that, the Chairman of the Committee has praised the Authority for being able to increase the scope of service provision from 200,000 customers to 432,000 customers within a period of three years.

He said that through the building, DAWASA, which is the largest water authority in the country, will help increase the efficiency of providing clean water services to the citizens of Dar es Salaam and the Coast.

For his part, the Vice Chairman of the DAWASA Board of Directors, Laston Msongole thanked the Parliamentary Committee for visiting the project that will serve 16 electoral states and four regions including Dar es Salaam, Pwani, some areas of Morogoro and Tanga.
