Dmytro Lykhova, the spokesman of the "Tavria" OSUV, denied the information that there are allegedly no defensive fortifications in the Avdiyiv direction.

"Over the past week, I personally visited those defensive fortifications that we allegedly don't have. These were four different points in the Avdiiv direction. In particular, 2 km before the then combat line, in the "red zone", under Russian FPV drones. - noted Lykhovi.

According to him, defensive fortifications are still under construction in some places.

"Depending on the line, this is done by regional administrations, civil contractors - construction companies; DSST (State Special Transport Service); engineering units of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces, engineering units of mechanized and motorized infantry brigades," explained the spokesman of the Tavria State Security Service.

Lykhovi admits that there are indeed certain organizational difficulties.

These are the lack of people, funds, some materials and weapons, the proximity of the front line, inertia and procrastination, bureaucracy, etc.

"But there is also a result," he assured.

According to the military official, active construction work began in December and was carried out even before the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Avdiyivka.

Lykhovi urged to abandon stereotypes, because "the Great Wall of China or the Wall of Westeros, as in "Games of Thrones", could not be quickly built in our conditions between Avdiivka and Lastochkin".

"The same infamous "Surovikin line" is not one, but many lines of various fortifications, fortifications, mine and non-mine barriers, built under completely different conditions - natural, security and administrative (under strong coercion). And then, remember: our troops of the past summer had to pass through a considerable "open" territory before starting to gnaw through the "line" itself, - the military man recalled.

Lykhovi explained that the new defense structures in Donetsk region do not look like "walls" or "lines".

This is an extensive system of fresh VOPs (platoon strongholds) on the second line of defense.

Hostile IPSO

The spokesman of the "Tavria" OSUV is sure that Russia is dispersing several active IPSOs at once.

One of them is the "lack of prepared lines of defense".

"I still haven't forgotten the statement of one influential Western publication that a thousand Ukrainian soldiers were captured in Avdiivka. A month has passed, and no one has seen them. Because these statements were not true. These fakes were spread by the Kremlin as an element of the continuation of the war means of informational influence. The same goes for fortifications," Lykhovi is convinced.

Defensive lines are not a magic wand

At the same time, the military warns: defensive lines should not be perceived "as another "wunderwaffe", a miracle weapon that can single-handedly stop the enemy."

"No, only a Ukrainian soldier will do it. And the enemy, unfortunately, has an advantage in terms of personnel. While we have not adopted a law on mobilization for so long," Lykhovi concluded.

Butusov's answer

Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov, who was informed that the Ukrainian military was allegedly taken from Avdiyivka to a "clean field", commented on the statement of the spokesman of the "Tavria" OSU.

"Unfortunately, there are no fortifications in the direction of the enemy's attack near Avdiivka in Lastochkino, Orlivka, Stepovo, Berdychy, Semenivka. It is good that fortifications are being built somewhere else near Avdiivka," the journalist insists.
