In January 2024, the price of olive oil in the EU was 50 percent higher than in the same month last year, reports Eurostat.

The price of olive oil has soared in the second half of 2023 with growth of 37 percent in August (compared to August 2022).

This trend accelerated in September (+44 percent) and October (+50 percent).

The peak annual rate of change occurred in November 2023 (+51 percent from November 2022).

There was a slight slowdown in December, with prices 47 percent higher (compared to December 2022).

Olive production in Albania jumped by 43.16 percent

In January 2024, all EU countries recorded an increase in the price of olive oil on an annual basis.

The biggest increase was recorded in 

Portugal 

(+69 percent compared to January 2023), followed by Greece (+67 percent) and Spain (+63 percent).

On the other hand, the smallest increase was in 

Romania 

(+13 percent), Ireland (+16 percent) and the Netherlands (+18 percent).

Bulgaria,

 olive oil has risen in price by about 25 percent
