The defense of the "Red Pirate" will request that he be transferred to a psychiatric hospital in Burgas.

The "Red Pirate" was arrested on charges of threats to kill because he had threatened politicians, magistrates, police and public figures by e-mail.

The man says that he found out from the news that his son has become one of the most famous people in the state.

The two have not been in contact for years.

"For the last ten years, we have been separated from his mother. He stayed living with her. He applied for architecture, I thought he was accepted and graduated. I assumed he was working in Sofia. He did not want to contact. He only contacts his mother." Nikolai Zahariev, Ilko Zahariev's father, told BNT.

Zahariev's father says that he did not know that his son was going by the nickname "The Red Pirate".

According to Nikolay, he is not capable of organizing such a large-scale campaign of threats against magistrates and politicians.

"He was quiet and modest. Very intelligent. He studied his lessons, he was an excellent student. I am confused. He was never aggressive. We talked to the lawyer that I am ready to take care of him. To shelter him to go through psychiatry and recover." , Nikolay Zahariev added.
