DAR ES SALAAM:

The Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango has said that inflation in the country has continued to be controlled where for the period from July to December 2023 it reached an average of 3.2 percent, a level that is within the target of between 3 percent and 7 percent.

Speaking at the Tax and Investment Forum in Dar es Salaam today, February 27, 2024, Dr. Mpango has noted that in 2023 the GDP is estimated to grow by 5.0 percent compared to 4.7 percent in 2022 and that the expectation for 2024 is to reach 5.5 percent.

In addition, he added that Tanzania has continued to be a center of investment and a country with a rapidly growing economy in the South of the Sahara Desert, despite the ongoing economic and social turmoil around the world.


Dr Mpango has also said that the government is in the process of receiving two new Boeing 737 9max and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, in order to increase the efficiency of air transport in the country.
