The forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for
March 25-27
, 2024 was published by the Space Weather Prediction Center of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Geomagnetic storms are classified by the level of power — the K-index — from 2 to 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger the storm and its consequences and impact on people and equipment.
Note that the forecast may change, as researchers of solar activity update their data every three hours.
On March 25,
solar activity with a K-index of 8 (red level) is expected, which corresponds to a super-powerful magnetic storm capable of affecting people's well-being.
On March 26,
geomagnetic activity will decrease to a K-index of 5, but the storm will still remain very strong.
By
March 27,
the magnetosphere should return to normal.
