Health authorities in Montansko report a drastic increase in cases of chicken pox.

There are 432 registered cases in the region, while last year they were only 29.

In the past week, there were 37 new cases in children from 1 to 14 years old.

8 people have been hospitalized since the beginning of the year.

Dr. Krasimir Manasiev told NOVA NEWS that "smallpox," as chicken pox is also called, has an incubation period of up to 21 days. 

He pointed out that the clinical picture is typical of a cold, after which the rash appears on the torso and head.

Angel Kunchev: Measles is the biggest concern

The doctor pointed out that the transmission of the virus is through the air-droplet route and most often the infection occurs in kindergartens.
