The Security Service of Ukraine reported the suspicion of a UOC cleric in Cherkasy Oblast, who heroized the Russian occupiers and justified a full-scale invasion.
This was reported in the SBU press service.
As it became known, the law enforcement officers documented the subversive activities of the mitrophoric archpriest of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC - he justified the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
"On his Facebook page, the cleric glorified the Russian occupiers and denied their war crimes against Ukraine.
He also spread pro-Kremlin narratives on social media, with which he tried to discredit Ukrainian defenders.
In particular, he accused the Ukrainian military of preparing for military provocations in Odesa and called the fighters of the Azov special unit "Nazis".
The suspect supplemented his posts with reposts with hostile slogans, photos and videos from pro-Kremlin internet resources," the SBU said.
Already during the search of his home, investigators found prohibited symbols and a mobile phone from which he was spreading anti-Ukrainian propaganda.
"On the basis of the collected evidence, the Mitrophorian archpriest of the UOC (MP) was notified of the suspicion under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art.
436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for him is being resolved.
An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property," the SBU added.
We will remind that the SBU caught a spy who was mobilized to the Armed Forces, who tried to escape to Transnistria.
