Ukraine alone will not be able to defeat Russia in a war of attrition. It will be long-lasting.

This opinion was expressed by a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Major of the Reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Hetman in an interview with OBOZ. UA.

"It's the same as during World War II. France alone would not have defeated Germany, although they were about the same in power. The UK is the same. But all together, the anti-Hitler coalition made it possible to win. Perhaps my words stand out from the mainstream of positive forecasts and joy that we will not win soon. No, if we don't have weapons, we won't win. In five months, we have advanced 18 kilometers in the south. Let's go on to say that everything is going according to plan. Yes, these are powerful fortifications, these are powerful troops, but we could not go further. Why? And where is the aviation? Where are the other hundred tanks? How to fight? Throwing stones? Courage alone is not enough to win. We must pay tribute to our president, the National Security and Defense Council, that they began to talk about it aloud," he said.

In his opinion, Ukraine needs to be helped not only with weapons, but also with human resources.

"It is necessary that our allies, the military of the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and other Western countries fight here next to us in order to stop Russia and prevent the creation of a powerful axis of evil Iran-Russia-North Korea," the Hetman said.

He is confident that the war will not end next year. It will be long-lasting.

"Will we be able to win this war? As long as Russia does not get stronger, as long as we are talking about these troops of the Russian Federation, we are able, if not to liberate all the territories, but to significantly tear apart the Russian army with more significant assistance not even with people, but simply with equipment. We must be prepared for the fact that the war will not end next year, it will be long and very difficult. We need to be, if not pessimists, but at least realistic," the expert suggested.

According to British intelligence, the war in Ukraine may drag on for 10-15 years.
