Currently, preparations for a large-scale offensive of the occupiers on Kharkiv are not observed. The
Russian
army
needs large manpower reserves to go to the city again. And for this, Russia needs to conduct additional mobilization.
Military commentator Denys Popovych said this on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
Speaking about what forces the Russian invaders might need to launch an attack on the Ukrainian city of a million people,
Popovych drew parallels with Avdiivka of the Donetsk region, assessing the Russians' attempt to go to Kharkiv. The expert emphasized that the invaders tried to surround the city for five months. They succeeded, but only because the Armed Forces had problems with the supply of ammunition.
"How much smaller is the city of Avdiyivka than Kharkiv? We understand that the size is incomparable. Therefore, after drawing parallels, we can imagine how many forces the Russian army will need to try to advance on Kharkiv," Popovych noted.
According to him, in order to ensure the grouping for the capture of Kharkiv, it is necessary to carry out additional mobilization measures in the Russian Federation - "either of a hidden nature, or publicly announced."
"Even if now by some strange magical means they gather this army from the depths of the Siberian ores and send it to Kharkiv, we will notice it. They will need to concentrate these troops in the direction of the main strikes. They do not materialize from the air. Nothing of the kind is happening today ", the observer emphasized.
Popovych emphasizes that Moscow can gather the necessary armed forces to attack Kharkiv. However, this is not happening at the moment.
"Are there troops to capture Kharkiv? There are no troops to capture Kharkiv. That's why everything is exhausted here," he declares.
Instead, the expert believes, the offensive of the Russian army is real. However, in those areas where there is pressure now. The main forces of the enemy, according to Popovych, are now concentrated in the directions to the east - on Avdiivske and Novopavlivske.
Offensive on Kharkiv
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that
the offensive on Kharkiv would be fatal for the Russians.
At the same time, he emphasizes, "any information about the enemy's preparations for offensive actions cannot be ignored."
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Sinegubov, also
assessed the threat of a Russian breakthrough into Kharkiv.
According to him, about 100,000 soldiers of the occupation army are concentrated near Kupyansk. However, there is no threat to the opening of a new front.
ISW analysts believe that there will be serious problems both for the Russian forces responsible for its implementation and for the Kremlin's general campaign in Ukraine. Currently, there are no signs of preparations for such an operation by the occupying forces.
