The Plaza América Convention Center, in Varadero, hosts the scientific event BioHabana 2024 from this Monday until Friday.

With the participation of 1,014 delegates from 36 countries, the event will promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences on life sciences, with the aim of identifying new business opportunities for the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals, medical supplies and technologies.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. C. Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, vice prime minister of the Republic; Dr. C. Eduardo Martínez Díaz, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment and honorary president of the congress; Dr. C. Mayda Mauri Pérez, president of BioCubaFarma and the organizing committee of BioHabana 2024, and Dr. C. Santiago Dueñas Carrera, director of Science and Innovation of BioCubaFarma.

Also attending the inauguration were Dr. C. Marta Ayala Ávila, general director of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology; Dr. C. Luis Velázquez Pérez, president of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, and scientific and medical authorities along with national and foreign delegates.
