"Parties need to put politics back into politics - there should be divisions based on different visions of what kind of country we want to be." This was stated to BNR by Petar Bankov from the team that conducted research related to the motivation of non-voters. "Bulgarian democracy is becoming increasingly unrepresentative," say the researchers in the announcement of their study, which will be presented tonight. The study analyzes the period 2013 – 2021.

"Non-participation in elections is also a choice. But if a person is elected by a handful of people, to what extent the decisions that the institution takes are legitimate and perceived by the people who are supposed to be represented by that institution," he asked rhetorically.

As the most important reason for people not going to vote, Bankov pointed out that

voters do not see real results from their participation

. "They say to themselves, 'What is the point of participating in the elections, as this does not improve my daily life, but even worsens it,'" he explained. According to his words, there

is also disappointment with the formations

.

The reasons for the feeling that there is no choice are that the divisions in the Bulgarian political and party system are not so much ideological or related to different visions, but most are related to questions of competence

 - who will be more competent to fight corruption or carried out this or that reform, commented Petar Bankov and added: "

There is a consensus between the political parties about the direction to go, regardless of whether these parties are right-wing or left-wing

".

There is no party that can sweep the rest

, he reported and noted that our political system was created in such a way that there is no party that has a majority in the parliament, but the creation of coalition governments and consensus is required. According to him,

voters should demand to know the topics on which no compromise will be made and those on which the parties are open to it

.

According to him, the problems of the left parties are not only Bulgarian, but also global.

And on Bulgarian soil, according to him, we need a left that will be a left

.

"What is happening in Bulgaria is not something unique. These things are also happening in other countries," Bankov pointed out in an interview for the show "Before Everyone". He emphasized that

in Great Britain, Poland and Bulgaria we have a serious problem with reaching young people

. According to him,

it is they who can change a given result, as long as they are mobilized

. However, the research indicates that there has been some improvement in the participation of young people between 18 and 25 years of age since 2013.
