Camilla, along with Prince Charles at the time, wore the piece in October 2012 to the premiere of the James Bond film 007: Skyfall at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Then Camilla accessorized her luxurious velvet dress. The amethyst, diamond and pearl necklace with a large amethyst heart was a gift from Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII (with whom Camilla's great-grandmother had an affair) to the late Queen Mother to mark her engagement to the future King George VI.

In January 1923, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon finally accepted an offer of marriage from Prince Albert, Duke of York, and soon after was invited to Sandringham to meet her future family, including her fiancé's grandmother, Queen Alexandra.
Alexandra, wife of Edward VII, was so impressed with her daughter-in-law that she gave the future royal bride an exquisite necklace of amethysts, diamonds and pearls with a large amethyst heart in the center.
