Mercedes-Benz Vans announced the acceleration of the transformation to electric vans with future plans for European production sites.

According to foreign media, Telegrafi reports, the German manufacturer intends to gradually remove fossil fuels and focus on all-electric models.

Thus, by the middle of this decade, all newly introduced vans from Mercedes-Benz will be electric only, the company says.

The Mercedes-Benz Vans lineup currently consists of electric mid-size and large van options, which will soon be joined by electric minivans.

One of the main points of the new plan is to maintain production of the large van (eSprinter) in Germany, despite rising costs, while at the same time adding an additional manufacturing plant to an existing Mercedes Benz site in Central/Eastern Europe – potentially in Kecskemet, Hungary.

The Düsseldorf plant, which is Mercedes Benz Vans' largest production plant, is also set to produce a large electric van.

The company intends to invest a total of 400 million euros to handle the new EVs.
