Skoda is considering a new city-sized SUV to become the cheapest electric car in its range – with a starting price of under €16,000 in the European market.

They want the new electric car to fill the same role as the Fabia city car, positioned as the Volkswagen Group's most spacious entry-level model in Europe, since the small VW Up city car will be discontinued in the years next.

Work is underway to assess the feasibility of the project, which would be in addition to the three electric SUVs – led by the Vision 7S large seven-seater – already confirmed by Skoda and previously reported by Drive , Telegrafi reports.

"Skoda, from my point of view, should be the brand that has the easiest access to the VW Group" said the new executive director of Skoda Klaus Zellmer.

Skoda has already revealed its plans for a new small electric SUV, which will be a split model identical to the Cupra and Volkswagen models - and will be based on the cheaper MEB "Lite" electric platform developed for from the VW Group.

But Zellmer said the proposed new car should be smaller and cheaper.
