New electric commercial vehicle start-up Arrival will begin production of fully electric panel vans this summer, with 20 vans expected to be delivered to customers before the end of this year, the announcement was made in the company's financial report for the second quarter of 2022.

Production of the vans will take place at the firm's R&D center in Bicester, Oxfordshire, where it was designed.

Simply called the Arrival Van, it has already undergone a short trial phase with a select group of private customers and some businesses, and is soon expected to undergo trials in central London – a key part for electric vans.

The company's second manufacturing plant will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina, as its opening has been postponed until 2023.

"We had great achievements in the second quarter, including European certification for our Van and Bus products and successful internal public road testing of these two products," said Denis Sverdlov, founder and CEO of Arrival, reports AutoExpress , the Telegraph reports.

"In addition, we have made several strategic decisions that will allow us to start production in Biceter this quarter, deliver the first cars this year to UPS, and start production in Charlotte in 2023," continued Sverdlov.

The Arrival brand has plans to open several more assembly lines, where each line will employ 200 additional workers and raise annual production capacity to 10,000 units.

However, in the latest financial report, Arrival has reported losses of 87.9 million euros during the second quarter, compared to 55.1 million euros of losses reported in the same period in 2021.
