Nissan Motor Co. is recalling more than 300,000 SUVs in the United States for a problem in which the lid suddenly opens, obstructing the driver's view and increasing the risk of a collision.

According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, the division of the Japanese automaker in North America said that 322,671 Pathfinder vehicles for the models between 2013 and 2016 are subject to withdrawal.

The withdrawal will also include about 37,700 model vehicles in Canada, a Nissan spokesman said Wednesday, adding that they are not sold in Japan.

Nissan said the accumulation of dirt and dust on the secondary cover of the lid could cause it to stay open even if the lid is closed, allowing it to potentially open without warning, according to a deposit in the U.S. regulatory body.

Nissan said a solution is underway and will send interim announcements starting Wednesday.
