Maserati will launch a range of electric models that will bear the name Folgore - the Italian word for lightning.

According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, to emphasize the focus of these EVs on performance, Maserati says that the next GranTurismo Folgore will offer over 1,200 horsepower from three electric motors and claims that it will accelerate 99 kilometers per hour to more less than 3.0 seconds, and will reach a top speed of 299 kilometers per hour.

Photographs of a camouflaged prototype of the GranTurismo show the four-seater car style ahead of its official presentation later this year.

There will also be Folgore versions of the upcoming Grecale SUV and MC20 super-car to come within the next year, along with a GranCabrio convertible version of the GranTurismo.
