Danny Roman bought a new Tesla Model X and the car was delivered to him on February 28, 2020.

Three days later, he told the company he was returning the electric SUV under the seven-day policy, without elaborating.

The policy of returning the car "without seven-day explanations" was proclaimed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Today, more than two years since Tesla regained possession of the car, the driver still has no refund or access to the vehicle, which was priced at about $ 116,000 overall, including various options and tariffs.

The records show that Tesla took his Model X, loading it on a truck on March 8, 2020, after which he expected his refund to arrive immediately.

The bank advised him to ask the electric vehicle manufacturer to start a "stop sale," he recalls, and then his sales representative, Tesla, informed him that his refund would be processed soon.

Instead, a few weeks later, while he was still corresponding with Tesla about the car's return status, Roman received a notice from Tesla telling him to go get the electric SUV.

The announcement explained that the car had been repaired and was at a service center in Burbank, California.

Roman told CNBC he was surprised by the message as he had neither asked for the vehicle to be repaired nor returned.
