IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Three players entered Team India simultaneously

IND vs ENG 2nd Test:

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and batsman Lokesh Rahul will not be able to play in the second Test against England to be held from February 2 in Visakhapatnam.

BCCI has informed on Monday that KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the second match of this series.

In place of these two, three players have been included in Team India and two of these players are still waiting for their Test debut for Team India.

Let us tell you, in the first match of this series, the Indian team had to face defeat by 28 runs.

In such a situation, Team India is eyeing a comeback in the second match.

Ravindra Jadeja suffered a leg muscle injury while taking fast runs during the first Test on Sunday, while Rahul has complained of pain in his right thigh.

Rahul also suffered an injury to his right thigh during the IPL in May last year and had to undergo surgery due to which he stayed away from cricket for four months.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a press release, "Ravindra Jadeja and Lokesh Rahul will not be able to play in the second Test against England to be held in Visakhapatnam from February 2, 2024."

According to the release, "The BCCI medical team is monitoring the progress of both the players."

The selection committee has included Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan, left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar and all-rounder Washington Sundar in the Indian team for the second Test.

Sarfaraz Khan and Saurabh Kumar waiting for debut

Sarfaraz, who has scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket, has been included in the national team for the first time.

He also performed brilliantly against England Lions recently.

Apart from this, Saurabh Kumar also took five wickets in the second innings of the second match against England Lions.

Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar were part of the India A team for this series against England Lions.

Among Sarfaraz, Sundar and Saurabh, only Sundar has experience of playing in international cricket.

Saurabh Kumar has scored 2061 runs in 68 first class matches at an average of 27.11.

During this period, he has also scored 2 centuries and 12 half-centuries with his bat.

All-rounder Saurabh Kumar has 290 wickets in his name in first class.

Saurabh Kumar made his debut in first class cricket in 2014.

Apart from this, he has scored 314 runs in 35 List A matches and taken 49 wickets.

If we talk about Sarfaraz Khan, then this batsman has scored 3912 runs in 45 List A matches at an average of 69.85.

During this period he has scored 14 centuries and 11 half-centuries.

Sarfaraz Khan has scored 629 runs in List A matches.

Virat Kohli is unavailable for the first two Tests due to personal reasons while injuries to Jadeja and Rahul have added to the woes of India, who are under pressure after losing their fourth Test on home soil since 2013.

Both Rahul and Jadeja had performed effectively in the first Test but later England made a comeback with a 28-run win to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Apart from taking five wickets, Jadeja scored 87 runs in the first innings while Rahul played an inning of 86 runs.

Jadeja's all-round ability is very important for the team.

The off-spinner, who has impressed during his four-Test career, can replace Jadeja in the Washington playing eleven.

Rahul returned from injury in the Asia Cup in September last year and performed brilliantly in the ODI and Test formats.

He also played the role of wicketkeeper in the ODI World Cup and the recent Test series in South Africa, which increased his workload.

Sarfaraz deserves a place in the team but Rajat Patidar is more likely to make his debut in Visakhapatnam, who is already a part of India's 15-member squad.

Saransh Jain has been included in the India 'A' squad as a replacement for Washington Sundar for the third and final multi-day match against England Lions in Ahmedabad from Thursday.

The release said, "Avesh Khan will remain with his Ranji team of Madhya Pradesh and will join the Test team if required."
