New Delhi:

Team India is definitely playing against Afghanistan, but now that it is India's last bilateral series before the T20 World Cup to be played in June, many people, including veterans, are now assessing who are the players in the mega event, who will be part of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. And now former opener Aakash Chopra has said that Jaiswal and Gill will not be part of the XI in his World Cup team. And the Indian management will have to give responsibility to seniors for the top three. By the way, Chopra may be saying this. Until recently, either Jaiswal or Gill was opening the innings with Gaikwad.

But now that the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the World Cup team is clearly visible, Jaiswal and Gill are finding it difficult to get a place in the XI. Recently, head coach Rahul Dravid also indicated that Rohit and Virat can start the innings. And Aakash Chopra also wants something similar in the World Cup to be held in the West Indies and America.

Chopra said on his YouTube channel that the place where the T20 World Cup is being played will have the highest chances of scoring runs in the first six overs. And if the management has a plan to start the innings with both of these in the World Cup, then it should start against Afghanistan.

"If you look at the entire World Cup, you will find that Kohli has the style of playing in the power-play and he scores runs very quickly during the period. Even in T20, he hardly starts with fours or sixes. He takes his necessary time. And if he has to score runs at a strike-rate of 150, he does so in the power-play. In the 9 matches played as an opener for India, Kohli has scored at an average of 57.14. It includes a century and three fifties. Kohli's straw rate as an opener is 16.129. And that's the total straw of his career. The rate is much higher than 137.

Akash said that the pitch in New York or the West Indies will be something like this, where there will be more chances of hitting fours and sixes in the first six overs. So, ideally, you want Rohit and Virat initially. And if you have to implement this idea, it is better to start now. When Chopra said that if that is the case, it means Kohli will play at number three. And number one batsman in T20, Suryakumar at number four.

"You are talking about having either Jaiswal or Gill. You wanted to play Gill at No. 3. In the last match, Yashasvi was not there, so he started the innings, but this is neither your long-term plan nor have you thought about it. You have described Jaiswal as the first choice with Rohit. But the former opener also dismissed the idea, saying that if that is the case, Suryakumar will move to number four and he will not get much time.
