Mumbai Indians: Fans did not like the decision to remove Rohit Sharma from captaincy

Hardik Pandya Replaces Rohit Sharma: Mumbai Indians have taken a big decision before IPL 2024 and they have replaced Rohit Sharma and handed over the command of Mumbai Indians to Hardik Pandya for the upcoming season. Mumbai Indians traded Hardik Pandya to Gujarat Titans last month. This trade was very much discussed before the IPL auction. Hardik had captained Gujarat in the last two seasons and under his leadership, the team managed to reach the final twice and won the title once. Since Hardik's arrival, it was believed that the Mumbai franchise could hand him over the command of the team. However, the decision of Mumbai Indians to hand over the captaincy to Hardik in place of Rohit Sharma has not been trapped by the fans, they have started giving their reaction to them.

Fans' reactions on social media are clearly indicating that fans are very angry about Rohit Sharma's removal from captaincy. In the viral video on social media, it can be seen that a fan set fire to the jersey of Mumbai Indians.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians has emerged as the most successful franchise of the league. Rohit has captained the side in 11 seasons out of which Mumbai Indians have managed to win the title five times. There will be a big auction for the 2025 season of the IPL and the franchise's move makes it clear that Rohit is no longer in the forward plans of Mumbai Indians as a player.

The last three seasons of IPL have not been good for Mumbai. Hardik was not fully fit in 2021, after which Bumrah was out of the season due to injury. The team made a big bid for Jofra Archer but he too did not work for the team due to injury. Rohit became the captain of Mumbai Indians in 2013. Under his leadership, the team won the title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
