On Friday, December 1, the women's sprint race took place at the first stage of the 2023/24 Biathlon World Cup in Östersund, Sweden.

Ukraine was represented by five athletes: Khrystyna Dmytrenko, Anastasia Merkushyna, Anna Kryvonos, Daria Blashko and Lyubov Kipiachenkova.

Unfortunately, none of our biathletes was able to enter the top 40 and score points. Merkushyna and Dmytrenko performed the best among the Ukrainians – they became the 48th and 49th, respectively, making their way to the pursuit race.

But Kryvonos, Kipiachenkova and Blashko finished outside the top 60 and did not qualify for the pursuit, which will take place on Sunday, December 3.
