Gautam Gambhir reacts to Rahul Dravid's comments

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday extended the contracts of head coach Rahul Dravid and his support staff to maintain the momentum of the Indian team that finished runners-up in the ODI World Cup. India defeated Australia in the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad on November 19. However, there was no word on Dravid's tenure in a release issued by the BCCI. At the same time, Gautam Gambhir has reacted to Rahul Dravid's appointment as the coach of Team India again. Speaking to ANI, Gambhir said that this decision of the BCCI is commendable.

Speaking on the occasion, Gambhir said: "It's a good decision. Because India has to play the T20 World Cup next year and there is not much time in it. In such a situation, the coaching staff could not be changed. The BCCI has taken a good decision. I sincerely hope that we will continue to dominate world cricket. The T20 format is different and challenging and hopefully Rahul and the support staff will do well. Congratulations to them."

Dravid replaced Ravi Shastri after the T20 World Cup 2021. His two-year tenure ended after the World Cup. Under Dravid's coaching, India finished runners-up in the last World Test Championship. Along with Dravid, his support staff includes batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dileep. It is understood that he will remain in the post at least till the T20 World Cup to be held in the US and West Indies in June-July next year.
