Indian Premier League Season 17: Hardik Pandya has officially returned to Mumbai Indians after a drama that lasted for about two hours. In fact, the Indian Premier League retention window was closed at <> pm on Sunday, at that time Gujarat Titans had included the name of their IPL-winning captain in this list, which surprised everyone.

For the past several days, reports were claiming that Hardik Pandya's return to Mumbai Indians is certain. Mumbai Indians are considering Hardik as a replacement of Rohit Sharma.

Hardik returns from all-cash trade deal

India's T20 International captain Hardik Pandya has returned to Mumbai Indians after an 'all cash trade-off' deal on Sunday. The decision was taken after Gujarat Titans formally completed the deal. However, the formal paperwork was not yet complete, leading to the IPL and BCCI not approving this anticipated move of the transfer season and Hardik's name was seen in the retention list.

A senior BCCI official and a member of the IPL Governing Council told PTI on the condition of anonymity, "Yes, Hardik's trade off was completed after 5 pm. Now the deal has become official and he is a Mumbai Indians player. It is a three-party all-cash deal."

Cameron Green joins RCB

A BCCI official said that Mumbai Indians have traded their all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore in an all-cash deal. After this, he had the necessary amount to make a full cash deal with Gujarat Titans and take Hardik. Green was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.5 crore during the last auction. So until his deal was done, Mumbai Indians did not have the necessary funds available to buy Hardik.

Hardik Pandya becomes GT champion in 2022

Hardik suffered a major setback after not being retained by Mumbai Indians in the 15th season of IPL. After which Hardik Pandya was bought by Gujarat Titans in the 2022 auction. For this, Gujarat Titans had to pay a hefty amount of Rs 15 crore. Hardik led the team in two consecutive finals. Out of this, in 2022, he gave the team the title and in 2023 the team was runner-up.

Hardik is Rohit's replacement

There is going to be a mega auction for IPL in the year 2025, during which every franchise will try to create a new team with young players. Mumbai Indians have added Pandya keeping in mind the future plans. However, Indian ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma is still included in the team's plan and is probably the biggest icon of the franchise, who has led the team to five titles.

Now it will be interesting to see what kind of decision the team owner and top management take regarding the leadership of the team. After spending two years at Gujarat Titans, Pandya wanted to go back to the same franchise from where he made a name and played seven seasons.
