Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has set a unique achievement.

The Czech goalkeeper, who became a player of the British hockey champion Belfast Giants in November, made his debut for the club in a match of the British Elite Hockey League.

It happened 4 minutes 43 seconds before the end of the match against Glasgow Klan. With the score 5-1 in favor of the Belfast Giants, the fans began chanting "We want Cech", after which the head coach of the team, Adam Keefe, fielded Petr as a substitute.

Thus, Cech became the first athlete in history to play in the strongest divisions of British football and hockey.

The debut in the elite of British hockey turned out to be successful for Cech. The 41-year-old goalkeeper kept his team's goal "dry" until the end of the meeting. The Belfast Giants won 5-1.

It should be added that Cech will play for the British hockey champions until the end of the 2023/24 season on loan from the third-league Oxford City Stars.

Recall that Cech ended his career as a football player in 2019. For 11 years (2004-2015) he played for Chelsea, playing 333 matches for the club. From 2015 to 2019, the goalkeeper defended the colors of Arsenal, where he played another 110 matches.

Cech holds the Premier League record for the number of clean sheets. He became the champion of England four times, won five Cups of the country, won the Champions League and the Europa League.

The goalkeeper played for the Czech national team from 2002 to 2016, playing 124 matches.

After the end of his football career, Petr played as a goalkeeper for the Guildford Phoenix hockey club in the fourth division of Great Britain, and then played in the third and second leagues for Chelmsford Chieftains and Oxford City Stars.
