Barcelona and Spain midfielder Gavi is out for a long time due to an injury he received in the match of the last 10th round of selection for Euro-2024 against Georgia (3:1).

According to the press service of the Catalan club, the examination revealed that the 19-year-old footballer had a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee and a meniscus injury.

In the coming days, the player will undergo surgery, after which it will be possible to say more accurately about the timing of his return to the field.

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Gavi's recovery will take about 7-9 months. Thus, he will miss not only the current club season, but also risks not playing at Euro 2024, where the Spaniards qualified from the first place in Group A.

Gavi has made 15 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Last year, Gavi received the Golden Boy Award, which is awarded to the best young football player in Europe under the age of 21.

In the Euro 2024 qualifiers, the Spanish national team finished in first position in Group A, scoring 21 points after eight matches. Together with the Spaniards, Scotland reached the final stage of the European Championship (17 points). Outside the top 2 were Norway (11), Georgia (8) and Cyprus (0).
