World Cup 2023: Kapil Dev gets angry
Former India captain Kapil Dev on Sunday claimed that he was not invited for the World Cup final between the hosts and Australia here. Kapil, who led India to its first ODI World Cup title in 1983, said he wanted to go for the match with his teammates. Kapil told ABP News, "I was not invited there, they did not invite me so I did not go. It's as simple as that. I wanted the whole team of 1983 to be there with me but I think it's such a big tournament and people are so busy with responsibilities that sometimes they forget."
However, the BCCI rules that it invites former presidents and officials. Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were present to watch the match, legendary badminton player Prakash Padukone was also present in the stands. Reacting to this, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "It is completely unacceptable that the cricket body did not invite Kapil Dev for the World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Like Bedi, Kapil Dev is also known for his outspoken nature and a few months ago he had openly supported the performing women wrestlers.
On the other hand, India lost by 6 wickets in the final. In the match played in Ahmedabad, India captain Rohit Sharma lost the toss. After losing the toss, India batted first and could score only 240 runs. After which the Australian team easily achieved the target by losing 4 wickets. Travis Head was awarded the Player of the Match title for his brilliant century. The Australian team has been successful in winning the World Cup title for the sixth time.
