Asian Games 2023: Vishnu Saravanan wins bronze medal

Asian Games 2023: Vishnu Saravanan gave India its first bronze medal in the men's dingy ILCA 7 event at the Asian Games on Wednesday. Vishnu, who played in the Tokyo Olympics, scored 11 net scores in 34 races. He missed the silver medal by one point, with South Korea's Jimin Hae securing the silver medal with 33 points. Singapore's Jun Han Ryan Lo won the gold medal with a score of 26. In sailing sailing, the net score is calculated by subtracting the worst score of all races from the total points. The one with the lowest net score wins. Vishnu's total score was 48 and his worst race was eighth when he retired. He was subtracted from his score by 14 points.

India could not win a medal in the women's singles Dingy ILCA 6 due to low wind speed and Nethra Kumanan had to settle for fourth place. The last race in this category had to be canceled, with Nethra (41 net points) trailing Singapore's Jing Hua Victoria Chan (38) by three points.

Indian sailing players had also won a silver and two bronze medals at the 2018 Jakarta Games. Neha Thakur won the silver and Ibad Ali won the bronze yesterday.
