(CNN Spanish) -- Inter Miami will play its second final in just over a month when it faces the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup championship.
With the help of Argentine star Lionel Messi, Inter won the final of the Leagues Cup on August 19, a tournament in which the world champion debuted with the Miami club.

Now, Gerardo "Tata" Martino's team is preparing to face the Dynamo for the US Open Cup, with the big difference that this time Messi's presence on the pitch is not confirmed.
For its part, the Dynamo, where Mexican Hector Herrera plays – who was coached by Martino in the Mexican national team – has a good pace in the league tournament by marching in fourth place in the Western Conference of MLS, unlike Inter, which occupies the 14th position in the Eastern Conference.
But, beyond the league, what does the US Open Cup entail? What are the benefits of winning that tournament?

What does the US Open Cup champion get?
The US Open Cup is a tournament that will be 110 years old next year. The first time this competition saw a team crowned was in the 1913-1914 season, according to U.S. Soccer, the U.S. soccer federation.
Since 1999, the tournament has been fully named "Lamar Hunt US Open Cup", as a tribute to the "pioneer of American soccer Lamar Hunt", according to the federation.
Any team, professional or amateur, that is affiliated with US Soccer can participate in this tournament. This makes it similar to the FA Cup, a championship where all teams from England participate.
In the 2022-2023 edition, the teams that reached the final are Inter Miami and Houston Dynamo.
According to US Soccer, the winner of the US Open Cup takes the following:
- A spot in the next CONCACAF Champions League. If the winner already got his place in that tournament by another way (through the MLS, for example), the place in the also called Concachampions goes to the other finalist.
- A prize money of at least $300,000. US Soccer indicates that the amount is not yet defined for this edition, but emphasizes that the prize of last year's competition was US $ 300,000. Meanwhile, the other finalist takes US$ 100,000.
