Ind vs Aus: Shreyas Iyer has proved his fitness and form in the best way
New Delhi:After taking an unbeatable lead in the series, Team India is now eyeing the elimination of kangaroos in the last ODI to be played on Wednesday. For this match, India has already rested the centuries of the previous match Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur. After the latest situation, former batting coach Sanjay Bangar has said that Shreyas Iyer will bat at number four and Ishan Kishan at number five in the last ODI. This new assessment comes after the new picture, under which regular captain and vice-captain Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya as well as former captain Virat Kohli are also returning in the last ODI. Although Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have gained form, Bangar believes that now Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are ahead of both of them in the race.
Speaking to Star Sports channel ahead of the third ODI, Bangar said, "The big question from here is who will be the main wicketkeeper now. If it is KL Rahul, he will play at number five, then Shreyas Iyer will play at number four. And in this case, unfortunately, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan will have to sit out."
"Even if he plays the third ODI, he can be a strong contender in the team for the World Cup 2023," Bangar said of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who made a comeback to ODIs after almost a year and a half through the ongoing series. Akshar Patel has been ruled out of the third ODI due to injury. In such a situation, Ashwin's place in the XI is confirmed.
"If India field a chennai team (against Australia on October 8) in the last ODI as well, I think Ashwin will play at No. 8. If Ashwin is playing ahead of Washington Sundar in the Asia Cup, it means that the captain and coach have more faith in the senior player.
