Paris Saint-Germain
Messi attacked his former team Paris Saint-Germain, and expressed his displeasure that the team did not "honor" him after winning the World Cup with his country, Argentina, in 2022.
Messi said: "I was the only Argentine player, among the 26-man squad in my country, who did not receive an honor from his club after winning the World Cup."
"I think my spell with PSG wasn't good, but I became world champion and I'm a PSG player, so everything happens for a reason."
World Cup 2026
On his participation in the upcoming 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Argentine legend did not give a frank answer.
Messi said: "I don't know if I will participate in the 2026 World Cup, I don't think about it now, my thinking is limited to the 2024 Copa America. I'll then see how I will be physically. World Cup three years from now."
Mbappe
As for his relationship with France's first star and former Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappe, Messi did not reveal much, but hinted at the French star's displeasure with the loss of World Cup.
Messi said: "My relationship with Kylian Mbappe was as good as it was with all the PSG players. Then I realised we beat them in the World Cup, and we're the reason they're not world champions again."
