The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has announced the list of nominees for The Best Football Player and Coach award for 2023.

The list of contenders for the awards includes 12 players and 5 coaches. It should be noted that their performances in the period from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023, without the World Cup in Qatar, were taken into account.

List of nominees for the best footballer of the year award: Julian Alvarez (Manchester City), Marcelo Brozovic (Inter, Al-Nassr), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City, Barcelona), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Rodri (Manchester City), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli), Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Lionel Messi (PSG, Inter Miami), Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Declan Rice (West Ham, Arsenal), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City).

List of nominees for the best coach of the year: Josep Guardiola (Manchester City), Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona), Simone Inzaghi (Inter), Luciano Spalletti (Napoli, Italy national team), Angelos Postecoglou (Celtic, Tottenham).

In addition, FIFA announced the contenders for the title of the best goalkeeper at the end of 2023: Yassine Bounou (Sevilla, Al-Hilal), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Ederson (Manchester City), Andre Onana (Manchester United), Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Barcelona).

The winners in the nominations will be determined by the results of voting among fans, journalists, captains and coaches of the national teams.

Last year, Lionel Messi was recognized as the best football player according to FIFA, who, together with the Argentine national team, won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The best goalkeeper of 2022 was the goalkeeper of Aston Villa and the Argentine national team Emiliano Martinez, and the best coach was the head coach of the Albiceleste Lionel Scaloni.
