Sunil Gavaskar on Pakistani Experts

With the announcement of the Indian team's Cricket World Cup 2023 squad, opinions about the team composition have intensified. Everyone has an opinion about cricket in India and if the subject is the Indian cricket team, then the opinion increases manifold. The topic of discussion is mostly surrounded by the Indian cricket team, which is one of the favourite teams to go ahead as hosts. Former Indian cricket team captain and 1983 Cricket World Cup winner Sunil Gavaskar is angry with foreign experts giving their opinion on the Indian team composition.

The reason for Gavaskar's anger was the question of how former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi had indicated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that India was afraid of playing with Pakistan. "If you look at the statements coming from their side. Sadly, our media gives them prominence.

We have Pakistan and Australian players selecting the Indian team. How is it their concern? Does any Indian player go and select the Australian or Pakistan team? It is not our job but we allow it," he said. "From there it has always been that Babar is better than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Shaheen Afridi is better than this. Inzamam-ul-Haq is better than Sachin Tendulkar. For them, they are always better than us. That's the way it is," Sunil Gavaskar said on Sports Today.

With the Indian cricket team getting excessive 'focus' from foreign experts, Sunil Gavaskar has an interesting argument. "Don't give them space in your papers. You have South Africa saying a player should be in your team. You have an Australian saying. This happens often. They say who should bat at No. 3 or No. 4. Come on, we don't need your advice," Sunil Gavaskar said.

India on Tuesday announced their 2023-man squad for the ODI World Cup 15, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya being appointed as Rohit Sharma's deputy. While India have moved on with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who recently returned from injuries, Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma have been left out. India have gone with three left-arm spinners while three specialist fast bowlers have been selected.

India's World Cup 2023 squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav.
