Team India Playing 11 vs WI 1st Test
Team India Probable Playing 11 vs WI 1st Test: The Indian team will play the first Test match on the tour of the West Indies on July 12 in Dominica. Let us know that India has to play 2 Test matches with the West Indies. But on the eve of the first Test (WI vs IND 1SG Test), Indian captain Rohit Sharma has made a big announcement that yashasvi jaiswal will start the innings and not Shubman Gill, while Gill will bat at number three. Shubman Gill has started the innings for India in 16 Test matches played so far. Rohit also said that India are very happy with the right-left opening combination after a very long time.
This is how Team India's playing 11 can look
Rohit Sharma: The Indian captain would like to give his team a great start as he will be eyeing a big score. Recently, against Australia in the WTC final, Rohit was out for just 15 runs in the first innings but scored 43 runs in the second innings. This is a great opportunity for Rohit against the West Indies where he can show his batting skills.
Yashasvi Jaiswal: The 21-year-old Jaiswal is having the best moment of his career as a successful IPL season cemented his place in the national team.
Shubman Gill: The young talented opener needs no introduction as he has been garnering a lot of attention in the last few months. However, he failed to make a mark against Australia in the WTC final and could score only 31 runs in the entire match. Gill would like to make a comeback against the West Indies in the first Test and add another dimension to his game at No. 3.
Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli returned to form in 2022 after struggling with his bad phase and has not looked back since then. He scored 14 and 49 against Australia in the WTC final and will be looking for a big innings against the West Indies in the first Test.
Ajinkya Rahane: Rahane made a comeback to the national team against Australia during the WTC final and showed his batting skills. He scored 89 and 46 runs and emerged as the highest run-scorer in the match for India. To add cherries to the top, he has been named as India's vice-captain for the Test against the West Indies.
Ishan Kishan: After KS Bharat failed to make a mark in some of the given opportunities, the selectors may pick young Ishan Kishan as their wicketkeeping option. The young star is yet to make his Test debut, but he can bring a lot of strength to the batting unit with his aggressive style.
Ravindra Jadeja: Star all-rounder became India's hero with a total of 22 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Later, he took four wickets in the WTC final. Due to his all-rounder skills, he will definitely get a place in the playing XI in the first Test.
Ravichandran Ashwin: The veteran player won the Player of the Series award along with Jadeja at BGT 2023 and emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the series. However, he was not included in the playing XI for the WTC final, which India eventually lost. Since the conditions in Dominica are in favour of spin, the selectors can definitely go with Ashwin.
Shardul Thakur: Shardul played his last Test against England in July 2022, yet Team India can go with him to strengthen his pace as well as batting attack.
Mohammed Siraj: He returned to form with five wickets in the WTC final.
Jaydev Unadkat: The experienced fast bowler will provide good support to Siraj as Shami is no more.
