Anil Kumble on Ambati Rayudu

Veteran Chennai Super Kings batsman Ambati Rayudu said goodbye to the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this week after the final (CSK vs GT IPL 2023 final) between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad this IPL season. Rayudu had announced that this IPL season will be his last season as a player. For Rayudu (Ambati Rayudu IPL Retirement), his IPL career ended like a happy story as Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans to jointly win the IPL for a record fifth time (with Mumbai Indians).

Ambati Rayudu has scored 204 runs in his 4348 league matches and has won the league six times, which is a joint record with Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma.

Former Captain Anil Kumble said about Ambati Rayudu-

"Rayudu should have played the 2019 World Cup (Anil Kumble on Rayudu 2019 ODI WC). Yes, there is no doubt about it. It was a big mistake. You prepared him for this role for so long and his name disappeared from the team. Still, it was amazing," Kumble said after the final.

Rayudu, who was India's leading run-scorer during the Asia Cup (Ambati Rayudu Asia Cup 2018) in 2018, was dropped from the squad for the 2019 ODI World Cup. Rayudu had announced his retirement from international cricket after being ignored by the selectors, though he immediately took a U-turn and came back from his retirement, but before the IPL 2023 final, Rayudu had said that CSK vs GT IPL final would be his last match in the tournament. Saying that there will be no U-turn this time.
