Zelensky also said that Zinchenko, together with another UNITED24 ambassador, world football legend and ex-coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko, would organize a charity football match to be held on August 5 in London.
The collected funds will be used to rebuild the Mykhailo-Kotsyubynsky Lyceum in the Chernihiv region, destroyed by the occupiers in March 2022.
"I welcome Oleksandr Zinchenko to the UNITED24 ambassador team and support the Game4Ukraine initiative at Stamford Bridge Stadium. This is an opportunity for the world football community to unite, demonstrate their solidarity and help Ukraine, help our children return to school desks, as well as again draw the attention of the entire world community to the war," Zelensky said in a post on his official Telegram channel.
Zinchenko became the fourth athlete-ambassador of UNITED24 after Andriy Shevchenko, tennis player Elina Svitolina and boxer Oleksandr Usyk.
Earlier it was reported that Zinchenko will become a father for the second time. Alexander and his wife, TV presenter Vlad Sedan, are expecting their second child.
