Chennai beat Gujarat to win the title for the 5th time

New Delhi:

The final of IPL 2023 was full of excitement, in which Chennai under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni defeated Gujarat Titans to win the league title for the fifth time and equaled Mumbai's record. In the last two balls of the match, Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four and gave Chennai the victory in the match. Gujarat Titans, who topped the points table in the IPL league stage, could not win their second title under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, even when the team's opener Shubman Gill was the orange cap holder of this season, while fast bowler Mohammed Shami became the purple cap viteja.

Shubman Gill and Mohammed Shami performed tremendously this season, however, they missed out on making their team champions. Shubman Gill ended the season with a figure of 39 runs with an innings of 890 runs in the final. But Gujarat managed to score 4 runs at the loss of 214 wickets in the final on the basis of Sai Sudarshan's innings. When Chennai's batting came in response to the target from Gujarat, the rain spoiled the fun of the match. The game was halted due to rain for more than two hours and when it started again, Chennai Super Kings got a target of 15 runs in 171 overs to win.

There was a tremendous race between Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan for the Purple Cap this season. However, both the bowlers could not take any wickets in the final match and in such a situation, Mohammed Shami got the purple of this season, who had 28 wickets this season. At the same time, Rashid Khan had 27 wickets to his name. Apart from this, Gujarat bowler Mohit Sharma, who took three wickets in the final, also got 27 wickets to his name.
