It is not the first time that Djokovic has denied recognizing Kosovo as an independent state. Back in 2008, he publicly defended the territorial integrity of Serbia.

Famous Ukrainian tennis players Alexander Dolgopolov and Sergey Stakhovsky have already reacted to this political action of Novak.

"And one said that tennis players can do nothing to stop Russia's invasion of Ukraine...," Stakhovsky wrote on Twitter.

"Is it politics or is it still a sport? Welcome to reality," Dolgopolov wrote.

Recall that in January during the Australian Open 2023, Djokovic's father supported the Russians against the background of a flag with a portrait of Putin.
