Metalist became the second club to be relegated from the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) at the end of the 2022/23 season.

In the match of the 29th round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL), Kharkiv lost to Mynai with a score of 1:2.

In the 36th minute, Yegor Demchenko put Metalist ahead, but then the Transcarpathians made a comeback. In the 61st minute, the score was equalized by Oleg Vishnevsky.

And in the 75th minute, Ruslan Palamar realized a penalty and brought a strong-willed victory to the Transcarpathians.

Thus, "Metalist" (22 points) ahead of schedule lost chances to keep a place in the elite division. Kharkiv residents lagged behind the 14th position, which gives the right to play in transitional matches, by six points.

"Mynay" (33 points) pinned to eighth place in the UPL standings.

In the final round on June 4, Metalist will play against Chornomorets, and Mynay will host Zorya."

Earlier, relegation from the elite division was formalized by "Lviv", which took the last place ahead of schedule in the 2022/23 UPL season.

  • The places of Lviv and Metalist in the next UPL draw will be taken by the two best clubs of the First League (Obolon Kyiv and Polissia Zhytomyr).
  • The third and fourth places of the First League (LNZ Cherkasy and FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhia) will play in the play-offs for entering the elite division against the teams that finish in 14th and 13th positions this season of the UPL, respectively.

Recall that in the penultimate round of the UPL "Vorskla" and "Kryvbas" synchronously won, spinning the intrigue in the struggle for European cups.
