Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina won the clay tournament of the WTA 250 series in Strasbourg (France).

In the final, the 28-year-old native of Odessa beat Russian Anna Blinkova, who, due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, competed in a neutral status.

The Ukrainian coped with a rival from the terrorist state in two sets. The match ended with a score of 6:2, 6:3.

It should be noted that Svitolina played in the finals of the WTA tournament for the first time since August 2021. Then Elina in Chicago (USA) beat Frenchwoman Alize Cornet in the decisive match and won her 16th career title.

On the way to the final, Svitolina defeated American Luisa Chirico in the first round. In the second round, the opponent of the Ukrainian Erin Routliffe from New Zealand withdrew from the match due to injury, so Elina automatically made it to the quarterfinals. In the 1/4 finals, Elina defeated Russian Varvara Gracheva, and in the semifinals she made a bright comeback and beat Frenchwoman Clara Burel.

Recall that in early April, Svitolina returned to the court after the decree. In mid-October last year, Elina became a mother for the first time. The Ukrainian gave birth to a daughter from her husband, French tennis player Gael Monfils.
