MI vs GT 2nd Qualifier Playing XI

IPL 2023; Buoyed by Akash Madhwal's brilliant bowling to register a big win over Lucknow Supergiants in the Eliminator, Mumbai Indians will face a tough challenge from defending champions Gujarat Titans in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2) here on Friday. Madhwal took five wickets for five runs in the Eliminator played in Chennai on Wednesday as five-time IPL champions Mumbai defeated Lucknow by 11 runs.

Despite the absence of players like Jasprit Bumrah (Bumrah) and Jofra Archer, this big win of Mumbai is a warning bell for other teams. Mumbai's performance this season has been ups and downs but now it seems that their team has returned to its best form at the right time. Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav and Tim David have dealt with the challenges well so far.

Apart from them, young batsman Nehal Badhera (Nihal Wadhera) is also making an impact, while the opening pair of Rohit Sharma (Rohit and Ishan Kishan) and Ishan Kishan are also playing their role. With this, the Rohit Sharma-led team is moving strongly towards its sixth title, these batsmen will face a tough test for Gujarat's bowlers, led by veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami (Mohammed Shami bowling).

Madhwal performed miraculously in bowling in the last match against Lucknow. He took five wickets for five runs in 3.5 overs. The team will expect a similar good performance from him. Among other Mumbai bowlers, veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla and fast bowler Jason Behrendorff have also bowled impressively. Fast bowler Chris Jordan, who has scored runs in the last few matches, took one wicket for seven runs in two overs against Lucknow, which is a good sign for Mumbai.

Gujarat Titans will enter the match after losing to Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier. He will have to do his best to make it to the IPL final for the second time in a row. All the players from Gujarat have made significant contributions so far. Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar have performed brilliantly in batting. Gill did not perform as expected against Chennai but the opener, who scored a century in the last two matches of the league stage, will be the biggest challenge for Mumbai.

Gill (Shubman Gill batting) has handled the responsibility of batting of Gujarat Titans well. This can be gauged from the fact that he has scored 15 runs in 722 matches so far. Vijay Shankar has scored the most runs for Gujarat but he is 421 runs behind Gill. Shankar currently has 12 runs in 301 matches to his name. Gill needs just eight runs to get the orange cap from RCB's Faf du Plessis by scoring the most runs this season.

However, for Gujarat, the poor performance of captain Hardik Pandya (Hardik Pandya in IPL 2023) is a matter of concern. He has scored only 45 runs in the last five matches. David Miller has also failed to play a big innings in the middle order. In the last three matches, he could not even reach double digits.

Mumbai and Gujarat will face each other for the third time this season. So far both teams have won one match each.
