Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had announced the signing of the contract with Adidas. "I am delighted to announce @BCCI's partnership with @adidas as the kit sponsor. We are committed to growing the game of cricket and couldn't be more excited to partner with one of the world's leading sportswear brands." You are welcome, @adidas," Shah tweeted.

Prior to Killer Jeans, MPL was the kit sponsor for the Indian team and had only transferred the rights to Kiran Clothing Limit in December last year. In December last year, it was also reported that edu-tech giant Byju's, the current sponsor, was willing to terminate its deal before the contract expires in November 2023. The BCCI is reportedly looking for a new main sponsor.

The Indian team is expected to wear the new Adidas kit in the upcoming World Test Championship final. India will host the ICC ODI World Cup (ICC ODI WC 2023) in October-November this year. The team has to play many ODIs before this, where the new blue color kit will be seen.
