FC Lviv became the first club to be relegated from the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) at the end of the 2022/23 season.
This happened after the "citizens" within the framework of the 27th round of the UPL lost to "Rukh" with a score of 2:0.
The Yellow-and-Blacks snatched victory at the end of the encounter. In the 76th minute, Lviv defender Serhiy Siminin scored an auto goal, and in the 84th minute, Rukh striker Vasyl Runich scored the second goal against the opponent.
After this defeat, "Lviv" (13 points) three rounds before the end of the championship ahead of schedule took the last place in the Premier League, losing mathematical chances to maintain a residence permit in the elite division. "Rukh" (27 points) rose to 13th place in the championship of Ukraine.
In the next round on May 25, "Lviv" will host "Chornomorets", and "Rukh" will play with "Mynai".
The last two clubs will be relegated at the end of the UPL season, their places will be taken by the two best teams of the First League (Obolon Kyiv and Polissia Zhytomyr). The third and fourth places of the First League will play play-offs against the 13th and 14th clubs of the UPL.
