Alexander Ceferin, who was re-elected

as the president of the European Football Union (UEFA), answered the question of journalists whether the organization plans to cancel the "ban" of Russian teams.

According to him, this will definitely not happen while the war in Ukraine continues, because there are no prerequisites for revising the sanctions against the aggressor country.

"My personal opinion is that until the war stops, it will be very difficult for us to change anything. My heart breaks for the Russian athletes who are not guilty of anything and cannot normally participate in our competitions. But for now this war continues, as long as this madness continues, there must be this form of pressure," Sportschau quoted Ceferina as saying.

In addition, the head of UEFA announced that the organization does not plan to change its decision regarding the clubs and national teams of Belarus, which will continue to participate in international competitions, but are deprived of the opportunity to play matches on the territory of their country.

At the same time, UEFA decided to deprive Belarus of the right to host Euro 2025 among women's national teams under the age of 19.
