[Sports Center/Comprehensive Report] The current NBA labor agreement expires in the 2023-24 season. The league and the players union are currently discussing a new labor agreement (CBA), but no consensus has been reached yet. NBA Chairman Schiller Adam Silver issued an ultimatum. If no consensus is reached on the 31st, US time, he will jump out of the agreement, which may lead to a suspension after July 1 next year.

The NBA and the players' union discussed a new version of the labor agreement last year, including the cancellation of the ban on high school graduates directly joining the NBA, as well as player rewards. However, the league is considering replacing the luxury tax with a hard salary cap system, which has led to a rebound from the players' union. Negotiations have been postponed since December and February last year. The deadline for negotiations is March 31. If the deadline is up, both parties can jump out of the agreement. NBA Chairman Silva also stated that if they fail to reach an agreement, they will withdraw. The players union Very disappointed with Silva's decision.

If the two sides fail to reach a new CBA agreement on June 30, the NBA will face a suspension of games, and there may be a closure of the management or a labor strike. The last strike in the NBA was in 2011, and the season shrank to 66 games that year.

Silva also added that choosing to jump out of the agreement does not mean that the negotiations between the two parties are over. They can still reach a consensus before the end of June. Silva does not rule out extending the deadline for a few more days, but none of this has been decided.
