Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be able to take part in the

2023 European Games

, which will be held in Krakow, Poland, from June 21 to July 2.

This was announced by the president of the organizing committee of the competition, Marcin Novak, on the air of the RMF radio station.

According to him, athletes from the aggressor countries will not participate in the competitions in Krakow "under any circumstances".

Even despite the fact that the day before the IOC

recommended

to international sports federations to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to return to competitions.

"Representatives of Russia and Belarus will not be present at the European Games under any circumstances, despite all procedural norms," the official said.

He also added that if the IOC decides to deprive the European Games of the status of selection for the 2024 Olympics, then the organizers of the competitions in Krakow will refuse to hold tournaments in these disciplines altogether.

It should be noted that currently part of the qualification for the Olympics in Paris are tournaments of 19 sports that will be presented at the 2023 European Games.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that international sports federations allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in neutral status with a number of restrictions.

Russians and Belarusians are prohibited from participating in team sports, and they must not support war or have contracts with the armies of the aggressor states.

Earlier it was reported that 35 countries agreed

to demand

from the IOC the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

As a reminder, Ukraine

may boycott the 2024 Olympics

if athletes from Russia and Belarus are admitted to the competition.

In turn, Ukrainian sports stars Yaroslava Maguchih, Oleg Vernyaev and Mykhailo Romanchuk

spoke against a possible boycott

of the Games in Paris by our country.
