Former India captain Virat Kohli

New Delhi:

Former India captain Virat Kohli has opened his mouth after a long time, so he has spoken from the heart.

Virat expressed his heartache about Kohli never winning any ICC trophy under his captaincy or the frequent criticism of how some pundits and a section of fans termed him as a failed captain.

Kohli said that though he has taken the team to the knockout rounds on several occasions under his leadership, the aspect of not winning the trophy has taken the form of a lot of discussion.

"If I call him, 99% he will not pick up the phone... Virat Kohli made a big disclosure about Dhoni

Kohli said in RCB's postcard that you play to win the tournament.

I also captained in the 2017 Champions Trophy and 2019 World Cup.

I also captained the World Test Championship and the 2021 T20 World Cup.

After three ICC tournaments, I was considered a failed captain.

Virat said that I never evaluated myself from this point of view.

We have achieved a lot as a unit and there has also been a cultural change, which is a matter of pride for me.

Any tournament is for a short period of time, but culture change is for a long time.

And for this you need players with more consistency and personality than winning tournaments.

Note that when India won the World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013, Virat was a part of the team, but MS Dhoni was the captain on both the occasions.

On the effect of criticism, Kohli said that as a player I have won the World Cup.

I have won the Champions Trophy.

I have been a part of the team which has won five Test matches.

If you look at it from that point of view, there are many players who have never won the World Cup.
