Forward "Los Angeles Lakers"

LeBron James

set a new record of the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the number of scored points.

It happened in a match against Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 38-year-old American scored 38 points in this match and surpassed the "eternal" achievement of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, which was established back in 1984.

LeBron now has 38,390 points in the NBA.

While Abdul-Jabbar scored 38,387 points in his career.

James made the record-breaking shot at the end of the third quarter.

While being guarded by an opponent, LeBron made a jump shot for a 2-pointer.

Immediately after that moment, the game was suspended, and the crowded arena in Los Angeles greeted the new NBA record holder with a loud ovation.

Interestingly, LeBron broke Kareem's record in his 1410th game in the NBA, now James is in his 20th career season.

Abdul-Jabbar played 1,560 games in the NBA over 20 seasons.

In addition, James is averaging 30 points per game this season, and the Lakers are currently in 13th place in the NBA's Western Conference.

Earlier, LeBron broke another remarkable record.

He became the first player in NBA history to score more than 40 points against all 30 teams in the league.

It will be recalled that last year James signed a record contract with the Lakers, thanks to which

he became the highest-paid basketball player in the history of the NBA
